Charlie Bennett has announced his departure from wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd, where he spent the past 25 years, most recently serving as Head of Digital Trading.
In a LinkedIn post, he said: "Today (Friday, 30th October) is my last day at Berry Bros. & Rudd. I joined a business 25 years ago that had been trading wine from 3 St James’s Street in London for centuries, and I have been fortunate enough to help shape a small part of its future."
"In 2010, we launched Berrys’ Broking Exchange (BBX), which gave our customers a simple, transparent way to buy and sell fine wine with us. To date, more than 540,000 cases have been traded, with turnover exceeding £420 million. Seeing BBX grow from an idea into a core part of the business is one of the proudest things I’ve done."
Bennett also played a major role in three digital transformation projects, from a move to SAP Hybris in 2015, to a recent two-phase re-platform to Adobe Commerce. "I’m confident this has given Berry Bros. & Rudd a resilient digital foundation built to scale over the next decade."
He concluded: "I’m so thankful to all the exceptional people, teams and partners I’ve worked alongside over the years - ultimately, they are the essence of what makes Berry Bros. & Rudd such a special place to work. As for what’s next, after a short break, I’m looking forward to my next challenge, ideally in digital leadership, e-commerce or online wine trading. I’d love to hear from anyone with an opportunity or simply a coffee and a chat."
