German DIY retailer Bauhaus deploys nShift technology to support Nordics ship from store growth

Bauhaus has announced plans to fulfil e-commerce orders from its stores across the Nordics.

To do this, it is working with nShift which provides a delivery management platform enabling every store in the region to act as a local shipping point for online orders.

The deal follows a pilot deployment fulfilling 200,000 orders using nShift Delivery. Building on that, Bauhaus now expects the solution to support around 750,000 shipments from online orders in 2026. In the process, nshift will provide the foundation for aligning its e-commerce and in-store experience.

Hakan Asp, Logistics Development Manager at Bauhaus, says: “Our ambition is to significantly grow our online presence in the Nordics, giving customers the same experience online as they receive in-store. During the pilot phase, nShift surpassed expectations while the implementation proved to be simple and fast. nShift’s speed and scalability has given us the confidence to expand the partnership to cover three quarters of a million shipments annually.”

Using nShift Delivery, Bauhaus can automate carrier selection, route orders intelligently and monitor delivery performance across stores, carriers and countries.

Jurgen Leijdekker, CEO at nShift, says: “Using physical stores to fulfill online orders works best when it’s quick and easy for in-store teams to send out packages. Bauhaus needed a solution that could handle rapid growth, work across multiple markets and provide a single operational view. nShift Delivery enables Bauhaus to scale its ship from store strategy with confidence while keeping the customer experience consistent.”

The roll-out of nShift is being delivered with nShift partner, A2B Solutions, a specialist integrator focused on WMS software. nShift Delivery was integrated into the Reflex WMS that is used by Bauhaus.

The move supports Bauhaus’ wider digital strategy as it invests in e-commerce growth across Europe. This follows recent plans to launch its own online marketplace in Germany.

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

E-commerce will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.

Check out our 2025 winners here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
