Former Amazon executive Julia Rauscher takes on PMO Lead - Logistics Transformation role at European retail giant C&A

C&A has appointed Julia Rauscher as PMO Lead - Logistics Transformation. Her CV includes stints at A.P. Moller - Maersk and Amazon.

In a LinkedIn post, she said: “From global logistics to fashion retail: I’m excited to share that I’ve joined C&A, a leading European fashion retailer. It’s a privilege to build on 185 years of family heritage, and the ongoing transformation makes this an exciting time to shape end-to-end change across operations and supply chain.”

She added: “Throughout my career, a key driver of my growth has been moving across industries, quickly navigating new operational environments, and delivering transformation in global organisations. Building on this, I’m bringing my supply chain and PMO experience to the fascinating world of fashion. Over the past months, I’ve held valuable conversations with mentors, colleagues, friends and new network connections. I truly appreciate the perspectives shared on transformation, leadership and value delivery. Now it’s time to deepen my hands-on understanding of fashion retail operations and contribute to what comes next.”

Nedap

C&A is seeking to optimise omnichannel logistics through Nedap’s Inventory Engine. This collaboration enables real-time tracking and status assignment of e-commerce items, enhancing inventory accuracy and improving the Click & Collect customer experience.

With more than 1,300 stores, C&A’s Click & Collect (BOPIS) service allows customers to order online and pick up in-store. However, this model can hold operational challenges, e.g., if in-store cycle counts mistakenly include items reserved for pickup if item status isn’t accurately assigned.

To improve this process, C&A deployed Nedap’s Inventory Engine in its e-commerce warehouses. RFID enabled read points at dispatch locations automatically scan outbound items and assign the correct status. This information is synced in real-time, ensuring that Click & Collect items are excluded from store inventory counts.

“In modern retail, inventory is dynamic and constantly changing,” says Tom Vieweger, RFID Business Expert at Nedap. “Retailers need an architecture that reflects real-time availability, including items reserved for e-commerce pickups. Nedap’s Inventory Engine provides this real-time item-level view, enabling C&A to reduce complexity, fulfill online orders confidently, and deliver the seamless shopping experience consumers expect.”

The project launched in late 2024 and was operational within weeks. C&A is now scaling the solution across its broader omnichannel infrastructure.

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

Omnichannel retail will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards will open for entries in April. They celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
