Jose Cervero takes on Domain Architect - Digital Customer Experience position at Primark
Jose Cervero is stepping into a new role as Domain Architect - Digital Customer Experience at Primark.
He has been with the retailer for two and a half years and previously served as Solutions Architect Digital. Prior to that, he worked at Kingfisher, and has also spent time at Virgin Media O2.
In a LinkedIn post, he said: "It's been a great couple of years working alongside some brilliant people on digital initiatives I've really enjoyed, from our mobile app and microservices architecture to our Click & Collect expansion. I've learned a huge amount along the way."
"In this new role I'll be defining the architecture vision, standards, and multi-year roadmap for the digital customer experience domain, partnering with our digital, marketing, product, and engineering teams to shape how we continue to evolve our customer platforms. Really looking forward to what we'll build together."
Upwardly mobile
In April, Primark launched its first ever mobile customer app in the UK. Brits are joining Irish and Italian shoppers who have been using the app since last year.
Kari Rodgers, UK Retail Director at Primark, said: “We know our customers expect great value and an effortless shopping experience, wherever they are. Our new app puts exactly that in the palm of their hand, from personalised updates on the latest trends to faster, more convenient ways to browse and shop via Click & Collect. This is just the next step in bringing everyday value to more UK shoppers in a way that’s simple, seamless and built around their needs.”
Matt Houston, Chief Customer & Digital Officer at Primark, added: “Following the successful launch of our app in Ireland and Italy, we’re excited to bring an even smarter, more connected shopping experience to the UK. Customers are increasingly turning to digital tools that make shopping easier and more rewarding, and we’re confident that our app will deliver an intuitive, personalised experience that’s been carefully designed to help them get the most out of every Primark visit.”
2026 RTIH Innovation Awards
Mobile retail will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.
Check out our 2025 winners here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
