Amazon veteran Sekhar Boddu lands VP Engineering, Fulfillment and Automation role at Coupang
Sekhar Boddu has joined Coupang as VP of Engineering, leading Fulfillment and Automation. His CV includes an almost 12 year stint at Amazon, where he held various roles, including Head of Technology Global Mile and GTS.
“Logistics and fulfillment have been the throughline of my career, with many years of it at Amazon, then Quiet Platforms, and now leading fulfillment and automation at Coupang,” he says. “Between chapters, besides focusing on my health and wellness, I spent the last few months building something I was passionate about: Nexus, a logistics operating system.”
“After years of watching operators run their business on 7 to 12 disconnected systems, and carriers price blind while 30%+ of miles run empty, I wanted to see how much of that I could address with one connected platform and a neutral network built to help carriers. I built it end-to-end, largely alongside Claude, from idea to a system that runs the full flow, order to doorstep, live.”
He adds: “It deepened my conviction about where this industry is headed. So when the chance came to work on fulfillment and automation at Coupang, one of the most advanced logistics operations on the planet, the decision made itself. It's the same mission I care about most, at a scale I could never reach alone. That means I'm putting Nexus on hold. Not shelving the idea. The problems it goes after are real, and they aren't going anywhere. But for me, the best way to move the needle right now is from inside an organisation already operating at the frontier of modern fulfillment. Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
