Grand Theft Auto VI offer page traffic surges on G2A.COM as blockbuster game tops wishlists across 45 countries
Traffic to Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) offer pages on digital marketplace G2A has increased significantly as the three-month countdown to the Rockstar Games title’s launch begins. When pre-orders started on 25th July, traffic increased 65-fold, and demand stayed nearly 30 times higher over the following five days. In July, almost half of all visits to the GTA VI product page from January to July occurred, making it G2A’s most wishlisted item in 45 countries.
The findings arrive one week before the global gaming industry gathers in Cologne for Gamescom 2026. The marketplace activity is also supported by new research among nearly 1,500 G2A users, revealing the level of anticipation behind the demand.
Two-thirds rank GTA VI among their three most anticipated games of the year, with 51% placing it at number one. 53% describe themselves as extremely or very excited about the release, while 50% say they are more excited about GTA VI than any previous instalment.
Six in ten users first experienced GTA during the GTA III, Vice City or San Andreas era, while one in nine expect GTA VI to be their first game in the series. Players are also eager to begin exploring the game as soon as it becomes available. 56% intend to start playing within the first 24 hours of launch, including a third who hope to begin within the first few minutes.
29% have taken time off work or school to play GTA VI, and a quarter plan to spend more than 40 hours playing in the first week. Moreover, two in five are very or quite likely to adjust plans with friends and family to make time for the game. However, not everyone is planning to spend as much time on the game. Two in five expect to play for fewer than three hours in its first week, while the same number (38%) believe the launch will make little difference to their usual routine.
Katarzyna Jakubiec, Chief Business Officer at G2A.COM, says: “Blockbuster releases such as GTA VI are becoming major cultural and retail moments, much like a long awaited film or live event. The latest instalment is bringing together people who grew up with the series and those preparing to experience GTA for the first time.”
“From our perspective, GTA VI isn't generating a single peak of attention; it's creating a series of engagement waves. Every new piece of information fuels another round of interest, and we expect this pattern to continue in the months leading up to release. People will experience the launch in different ways. Some are setting aside dedicated time to explore the game immediately, while others plan to enjoy it more gradually. What connects them is the anticipation that continues to build as the release approaches.”
2026 RTIH Innovation Awards
Digital retail will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.
Check out our 2025 winners here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
