TransactionTree hires industry veteran Peter Ingram as it plots convenience and fuel retail expansion

AI powered retail operations platform TransactionTree has appointed Peter Ingram as Senior Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships. He comes onboard to lead the company’s expansion into the convenience and fuel retail sector.

Ingram has spent more than 25 years in the convenience and fuel space’s technology stack - Point of Sale, back office, fuel systems, loyalty, payments, and the integrations between them that rarely work as advertised. His career spans retail technology, FinTech, marketing and sales, covering strategy, business development, corporate development and operations.

“There is no shortage of dashboards in this industry,” Ingram says. “What’s missing is a trusted, real-time record - one that can tell an associate what to do in the next three minutes and tell the region and the home office the same thing at the same time. The back office isn’t really a place anymore. The business is wherever the shopper is. That’s the problem I came here to work on.”

“Retailers are sitting on their most valuable asset and using a fraction of it,” says Kevin Saum, CEO at TransactionTree (pictured below). “The transaction is the most complete and most honest record a retailer owns. Worse than underusing it, though, is what’s happening now - companies are putting an AI layer on top of siloed data. The AI sees one system’s slice, on one refresh schedule, and answers with total confidence. That isn’t a view of your enterprise. It’s several confident answers that don’t reconcile.”

He adds: “The work is making the entire record real-time and trusted first. Peter has spent 25 years watching this industry try to skip that step.”

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

AI will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.

Check out our 2025 winners here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
