Flipdish AI Phone Agent hits 10,000 orders, bringing in over £230,000 to UK and Irish restaurants
Flipdish, an AI platform for restaurants, reports that independent restaurants throughout the UK and Ireland have placed over 10,000 orders via its AI Phone Agent, resulting in revenues in excess of £230,000.
Initially launched at Dished Live 25 in November, the product (which has helped to facilitate over 13,000 orders to date), was created in response to a common problem restaurants face: phone orders are still an important source of income, but calls are often missed during peak times, meaning potential orders are abandoned.
The AI Phone Agent answers incoming calls, takes orders, suggests appropriate add-on products such as side dishes, and submits the confirmed order right to the Flipdish PoS, KDS or terminal, allowing the operator to receive orders without removing its staff from food preparations and serving customers in-store.
"10,000+ orders and £230k in revenue is a great milestone, but the real win is what it represents. Fewer missed calls, less chaos during peak service, and more orders captured without dragging staff away from the kitchen or the counter,” says Conor McCarthy, Co-Founder and CEO at Flipdish. "Restaurants shouldn't have to choose between answering the phone and looking after the customers in front of them. We built AI Phone Agent to take that pressure off teams. It can take multiple calls and orders at the same time, so revenue keeps coming in even when the restaurant is flat out."
"Before the AI Phone Agent, calls would come in all at once before lunch or dinner and some customers would simply give up if we could not answer quickly," says Jessica Borza, of Silvio's Food Company, Dublin. "Now those calls are answered straight away, orders can be taken without staff running to the phone, and our team can stay focused on preparing food and serving customers. It has helped us handle busy periods more efficiently and capture orders we might otherwise have missed."
Flipdish plans to develop the AI Phone Agent to help handle other requests made by customers over the phone such as updates to orders and inquiries regarding opening hours. The company is also developing additional AI tools for restaurants, including tools to help them receive more orders, decrease manual work, improve decision-making and manage customers' relationships.
2026 RTIH Innovation Awards
AI will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.
Check out our 2025 winners here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
