TRG announces its acquisition of 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards winner Vista Technology Support
TRG, a portfolio company of Gemspring Capital and a managed services provider, has acquired Vista Technology Support, a retail technology field services and support specialist operating across the UK and Ireland. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The move expands TRG’s field services and help desk capabilities in Europe. Vista, which was among the winners at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards, provides technology field services and support to businesses across the retail, hospitality, leisure, and healthcare sectors. Its capabilities span installation and deployment, preventative maintenance, responsive break-fix engineering, service desk support, and IT procurement. The firm employs more than 400 people, including field service engineers, service desk specialists, staging technicians, and project managers across the UK and Ireland.
“Vista is a market leader with a strong service model, deep technical expertise, and longstanding customer relationships,” says Sean Kennedy, Founder and CEO at TRG. “The acquisition expands our field services capabilities in Europe and strengthens our ability to procure, deploy, maintain, repair, and support enterprise endpoints wherever our customers operate.”
“At the beginning of the year, one of my key objectives for Vista was to find the right investment partner to help the business realise its full potential on a global stage. I was looking for a partner that shared our ambition, values, and vision for the future,” says James Pepper, Chief Executive Officer at Vista. “I'm pleased to say that we found a new owner for Vista that not only meets these objectives but also brings a whole lot more.”
“From my very first conversations with Sean Kennedy, it was clear that Vista and TRG are an excellent fit. Our businesses complement each other perfectly, our capabilities strengthen one another, and perhaps most importantly, our cultures are remarkably aligned. We share the same passion for delivering exceptional service, embracing innovation, and putting people first.”
He adds: “Since announcing the acquisition to our colleagues across the UK and Ireland last week, there has been a real buzz throughout the business. The excitement, energy, and optimism for what lies ahead have been incredible to see. The response from our customers has been equally positive. They immediately recognise the value that our combined organisations can bring through an expanded suite of services, greater scale, deeper expertise, and an impressive global footprint. Together, we are even better positioned to support our customers wherever they operate.”
“While today is an important milestone, it is far from the end of the story, it is just the beginning. I am incredibly excited about what comes next and look forward to working with our talented colleagues across Vista and TRG as we take this fantastic business to the next level.”
So hot right now
Vista Technology Support is included in RTIH’s first ever Retail Technology Hot 100 List. Launching in August, this sees us bringing you the hottest companies whose solutions and systems are helping drive the retail sector forward.
Our Founder and Editor, Scott Thompson, drew up a list of 150 companies that had consistently been on his radar over the past 12 months whilst bringing our community the latest retail tech news and views that matter. These companies operate across the omnichannel retail landscape (stores, online, mobile, supply chain, payments etc).
Our judging panel, including Vineta Bajaj, Group CFO, Holland & Barrett, Dan McGrath, JD Group Customer Operations, JD Sports, Dr. Astha Purohit, Director of Product Management, Customer Data and Identity, Walmart, and Paula Bobbett, Chief Data and Digital Officer, Boots, provided feedback on those who have the most innovative, forward thinking technology offerings and are also best addressing retailers' current challenges, painpoints, and opportunities.
The judges used the following framework when making their picks:
1. Retailer problem fit - how meaningful, strategic, and widely felt the retailer pain being addressed is.
2. Production traction in retail (2025–2026) - real named retailer deployments, pilots.
3. Innovation and defensibility - genuine technical novelty paired with a defensible competitive position.
And there was also a public vote, with thousands of members of our community of retail tech enthusiasts getting involved. Thanks to all those who took part! Based on the judging panel's feedback and the public vote, we then drew up our first ever RTIH Retail Technology Hot 100.
So, without further ado, here are the 100 hottest global retail technology ventures right now. Drum roll, please…
