Selazar CEO Jack Williams talks new warehouse and expansion plans

RTIH gets the lowdown on UK-based e-commerce fulfilment startup Selazar’s new flagship warehouse in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

RTIH: Tell us about Selazar

JW: Selazar is a forward thinking fulfilment service provider.

Our objective is to make e-commerce simple so you can sell more. We’ve achieved amazing results with our innovative technology-lead solutions to age old problems.

Born from real world problems faced by e-commerce sellers Selazar leverage’s the power of tech to deliver a best in class service unmatched by others in the market.

Servicing later into the evening with greater accuracy allows our partners to build loyal customer base’s with reliable repeat revenue.

RTIH: You’ve said that your new flagship warehouse in Nuneaton, Warwickshire marks an important milestone in your ability to provide fast and innovative fulfilment services throughout the UK. Could you expand upon that?

JW: Absolutely, with our new warehouse comes a new era in the Selazar’s expansion.

We’ve been building up our system for high speed service at volume. This new warehouse allows us to deploy that tech in a new but controlled environment.

Rapidly testing process and protocols that can then be later deployed to other warehouses as the business expands into Europe and the US.

Our digitally mapped warehouse revolutionises the way in which inventory is managed and order processing actions are taken.

Using a tech lead approach we optimise everything from storage locations to picking routes. Tracking all the data points internally for continual improvements to customers service and experience.

RTIH: The flagship setup was completed in record time, with only two weeks to fully prep the site for change over. How was this possible?

JW: Hard work and a good plan is the easiest answer. In all honesty it comes back to our tech – by first virtually creating the warehouse setup it was simply a case of a lot of labelling, setting up pack stations then filling the shelves.

The longest task was the last one. As you can imagine moving thousands of products was a headache but our great team pulled together and got it done in record time. That’s the winning combination, great people powering great technology.

RTIH: Tell us about your future expansion plans. You’ve said the new site will form the base plan for Selazar’s expansion across the UK, EU and the globe.

JW: Currently we are looking to open some EU locations before the end of the year.

Setting up our UK/EU sellers for easy access to those markets before turning to the US early next year. With the continental US being so vast we could be up to eight or ten warehouses by the end of next year.

That’s some seriously fast expansion and I’m very excited.

As we need we will open new warehouses, with our rapidly deployable warehouse management system now tried and tested we have confidence in our ability to handle sellers of any size.
