Online a highlight as Ikea posts UK sales rise
Ikea has reported total UK sales of £1.814 billion for the financial year ending 31st August 2017, a 5.8% rise on the previous year. Market share was up 0.5% as it worked towards increasing overall slice of the action to 15% by 2027.
The retailer, which has been in the UK for 30 years, recently opened stores in Reading and Sheffield, with two more set to follow, in Exeter and Greenwich, south east London, during the coming year. A new website has also been launched, with online now accounting for 15% of total sales.
"In addition to our global acquisition of TaskRabbit, we also launched Click and Collect in all order and collection points," says Gillian Drakeford, Ikea's UK retail manager.
