Looking back on Shipt's first year with Target

It’s membership-based grocery marketplace and same-day delivery platform Shipt’s first anniversary as part of Target (further details on the acquisition here).

To mark the occasion, Target has taken a look back at the past 12 months. John Mulligan, Chief Operating Officer, comments: “Same-day delivery has become a reality for our guests across the country, making Target the first retailer to offer the service coast to coast.”

Shipt is now available in more than 200 markets across 46 US states (pre-acquisition, it was available in 70 markets), delivering groceries, gifts, decorations etc in as soon as one hour. Since joining the Target family, Shipt has seen membership numbers triple year-over-year and has hired more than 375 new employees across its Birmingham, Alabama and San Francisco offices. And the original promise, that the service would be available at most Target stores in all major markets by the holiday season, has been fulfilled.

As for 2019, the plan is to increase Target's assortment on the platform to include all major product categories, and the pair will continue to expand to new markets.
