Brazilian blues as Blue Yonder World Cup predictions backfire

On Friday, Blue Yonder announced that it had tapped its AI technology to predict the results of the remaining World Cup games

It analysed every international football match played since 1872 (approximately 38,000 matches), running over one million simulations of the World Cup. From this, Blue Yonder put Brazil on course to win the competition. Hours later, Neymar et had been dumped out of the tournament, losing 2-1 to Belgium.

The company did, at least, correctly predict that England would beat Sweden. It said that Brazil, France and Russia would join England in the next round. Well, two out of four ain’t bad, we guess…

To quote baseball playing philosopher, Yogi Berra,“it's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.”
