iZettle brings contactless payments to London Fashion Week Festival

The British Fashion Council and FinTech venture iZettle teamed up to bring contactless payments for consumers at this year's London Fashion Week Festival.

All designer stands were equipped with iZettle readers, replacing a buy and collect payment system, allowing customers to tap and pay for items using contactless and wearable technology, and a chip and PIN option for higher value purchases.

As a result, card sales at the festival reached a record high, increasing 50% compared to the previous season. Designers also accepted more payments than ever through contactless and wearable technology. In total over 6,000 transactions were made with iZettle across the four-day event.

Edward Hallett, Managing Director, iZettle UK, says: “We partnered with London Fashion Week Festival to ensure that each of the talented fashion designers exhibiting had the tools they needed to get the sales they deserved. We are thrilled to hear record sales were processed at this year’s London Fashion Week Festival with attendees tapping to pay for items using contactless and wearable technology.”
