Tesco preps Finest pop-ups in UK cities

Tesco is planning to launch a series of Finest pop-up stores, over a four to six-week period ahead of Christmas.

The retailer will use these to sell some of its premium own-label products, alongside wine. It is understood to be eyeing small units in London and a number of other UK cities in which to open the stores, The Grocer reports.

In 2016, Tesco opened a temporary Finest wine bar in London’s Soho. It isn’t the only grocery giant testing out pop-ups. Earlier this year, Sainsbury’s launched The Clean Vic in central London which only served no or low alcohol drinks.

Anne Cooper, Buyer at Sainsbury’s, commented: “We’re seeing a really exciting spike in the no and low alcohol category, which has been growing since 2001. From speaking to customers, we know there is still some uncertainty about what these no and low alcohol products taste like and how they are made. So, our specially curated workshops in the Clean Vic will help customers learn more about these drinks, providing key tasting notes given by the experts.”
