These retailers and brands are leading the way in providing technology and experiences that are one step ahead of their customers’ expectations.
1. Starbucks
Starbucks has expanded its Starbucks Delivers service to five new US markets: Atlanta, Denver, Phoenix, Philadelphia, and New Jersey, and also announced further expansion in the New York Metro.
2. Merlin Entertainments
Merlin Entertainments is using Adyen’s payments platform across more than 130 attractions, including Alton Towers and Madame Tussauds, in 25 countries.
3. adidas
adidas has opened the doors to its new Oxford Street flagship store.
This includes over 100 digital touchpoints, all 100% powered by green energy. Meanwhile, a Bring It to Me feature in the brand’s mobile app uses in-store geolocation tracking so that shoppers can scan products, check stock, request their size and purchase without the need for queues or designated collection spaces.
4. JD.com
JD.com has launched what is pitched as China’s first 5G-powered smart logistics park in Beijing, just ahead of Singles’ Day.
5. The Entertainer
The Entertainer has hired former TK Maxx and White Stuff director Julie Price as its Chief Transformation Officer.
Price will be responsible for developing digital processes – increasing productivity and profitability across both online and in-store and in the supply chain.
Founder Gary Grant said: “This is one of the most significant hires the business has made in recent years, adding another team member to the board and comes at an important time.”
6. Topco Associates
Topco Associates, a US food cooperative, is to pilot Mastercard’s blockchain tech in its supply chain.
It will test out a traceability platform developed by logistics firm Envisible. The Wholechain platform is based on Mastercard’s blockchain-based Provenance solution.
