Keep your business mobile

When you’re on the road a lot, making sure that you stay connected is vital. It’s what keeps your business going and it’s how you stay in contact with your team. To have to scrabble around to find coverage to make a call is both frustrating and a waste of your precious time.

You need to have reliable, consistent mobile coverage and a plan that leaves you alone to make all the calls, receive all your emails and go online as much as you need without having to worry about coverage, running out of data or using up all your minutes.

In this article we take a look at the big providers and one or two of the independent ones and help you make a choice that keeps your business and your team up and running when it comes to their mobile phones.

Think outside the box

It’s almost automatic to head straight for the big names. That might be the latest iPhone or Samsung or a plan from someone like EE. Often you’ll find a plan that gives you all the free minutes you want but could you have got that deal for a better price elsewhere? If you don’t shop around you’ll never know.

And if you can bear to swap out the iOS platform for Android you might find a better deal on phones too.

Let’s take a look at some great phones that are giving the iPhone a run for its money when it comes to smartphone to take notice of.

The Google Pixel  4

The first mobile phone to capture the Milky Way, this phone’s big selling point is the quality of its camera and the images it’s quite capable of capturing.

But besides having a superb camera, what can this phone do for your business? It comes with Google Assistant, the equivalent of Siri, for a start but linked to the powerful Google search engine. It also features an impressive motion sensor feature, allowing you to lock your phone, for example with just a swipe of your hand. Useful when you’re driving or running on the treadmill.

BlackBerry Key 2

Are you old school enough that you really do prefer a physical rather than a smart keyboard? If you spend a lot of time preparing documents on your phone, then this is a great reason to revert back to a keyboard with the latest from BlackBerry.

Having teamed up with Android, this phone offers you the same features as a basic smartphone with access to the Google Play store.

Once you’ve chosen your phone, ditching the iPhone and the Samsung, it’s time to think about pairing it up to a SIM-only deal from a provider. Before you get stuck into the price comparison, take a moment or two to decide what it is that you want from your provider.

Are you someone who uses their phone like a small computer, adjusting and creating documents and creating files? Then you’ll probably be looking at maxing out on your data allowance. If you’re someone who spends a lot of the time talking, then the same goes for your minutes allowance, though you’ll also need to check if that covers international calls, if that includes your business too.

You may not use text so much or you may rely on it to contact customers, whatever the case you’ll need to factor this element in too.

SMARTY

We like the fact that there are now more and more independent network providers cropping up across the UK and SMARTY mobile is one such provider. Providing various SIM deals from small to unlimited, you’re only limited by your budget.

SMARTY makes use of the 3 network and has a coverage calculator on its website for you to check if your area is suitably catered for. Well worth checking out with the unlimited deal coming in at just £22 per month.

EE

This giant is one of the more popular options, having swallowed up some of its smaller competitors. When it comes to SIM only deals you might want to check out the 25GB plan currently on offer for £20 per month with its own unlimited plan starting at around £40.

Vodaphone

Vodaphone’s Unlimited Lite plan starts at £23 per month, good value for money but may not have the download speed you need if you’re someone who likes to stream lots of video content and music when you’re on the road.

nstead you might be looking at the next plan up, for a little more per month but with a much faster download speed for more reliable streaming.

Virgin

Perhaps not one of the more obvious choices but if you’re looking to combine a deal with your broadband, it might be worth checking out. When it comes to a SIM only deal, Virgin offers a £20 package (their largest for non-broadband customers) with 25GB, 5,000 free minutes and unlimited texts as part of a 12-month package. Well worth checking out their coverage calculator, also available on their page.

When you or your team are on the road, having reliable coverage and enough data and memory to keep you doing business wherever you are, isn’t just a luxury, it’s a necessity. If you’re looking to maximise your budget, then it’s time to think outside the box with a phone that isn’t an iPhone or a Samsung but that offers you the best service and the right amount of memory.

Combine that phone with one of our SIM only deals. It’s well worth just spending a little time looking at who can you give the best coverage, particularly if you are on the road a lot and travelling around the country.

Find a provider that not only gives you the minutes, texts and data you need but the customer service and support that will be there for you should you need it

Then sit back knowing you’ve covered, connected and ready to take your business mobile.
