Bitcoin does the job for Italian online shoppers

Bitcoin is the third most preferred online payment method in Italy, behind PayPal and the reloadable prepaid card service PostePay.

According to research by SEMRush, Italians use the cryptocurrency for shopping online more widely than traditional credit cards, such as Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Bitcoin is used more than 215,800 times per month for online purchases and American Express 189,000 times. Visa, Mastercard, and other credit cards account for just 33,950 online transactions per month.

PayPal is powering ahead with around 1.3 million payment transactions per month. PostePay is close behind, with 1.2 million. It should be noted that the research doesn’t take into account the number of PayPal and PostePay accounts linked to credit cards.
