Coca-Cola supply chain firm thirsty for SAP blockchain tech
Coke One North America (CONA) - the company that manages IT operations for Coca-Cola’s bottlers - is tapping a blockchain solution developed by SAP to manage its supply chain.
According to a report by Business Insider, it is using the technology to shed light on the litany of transactions that occur each month between 70 different franchises.
"There are a number of transactions that are cross-companies and multiparty that are inefficient. They go through intermediaries; they are very slow. And we felt that we could improve this and save some money," says Andrei Semenov, Senior Manager at CONA.
With blockchain, CONA is looking to reduce the duration of order-reconciliation from 50 days to just a few days. An inter-organisational, transparent distributed ledger will give real-time insights into the transactions made by all the different bottlers on the network, which generates over $21 billion in revenue per year.
