Facebook seeks emerging payments legal eagle
Facebook is on the hunt for a senior lawyer with experience in blockchain, e-commerce and payments.
The social media giant wants to hire a Lead Commercial Counsel to work on the roll-out of new offerings. “You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts related our blockchain initiatives, including partnerships needed to launch new products and expand such products internationally,” a job description notes.
“You will also advise clients on the various legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to commercial transactions and general operations. This is a great opportunity to join a growing legal team and work at the forefront of helping to deliver new technologies around the world.”
Applicants must have a strong interest in mobile and alternative payments, emerging payments technology, the payments industry, and the e-commerce space, it adds.
As reported by RTIH earlier this month, a ‘Facebook Coin’ is in the works, pegged to the value of traditional currencies, that users of WhatsApp, which Facebook owns, could send to friends and family instantly. Further details here.
