Suning.com hails successful 818 shopping event
Chinese retailer Suning.com wrapped up its annual 818 shopping festival on Sunday. More than 12,000 online stores, owned by the company, took part.
“From pure online shopping, to the integration of online and offline, to today’s full-scenario retail experiences, the 818 shopping festival is a key example of our continuous effort to innovate in retail and lead development in the industry,” says Zhang Jindong, Chairman at Suning Holdings.
Highlights include: On 18th August, the overall sales volume of home appliances and 3C exceeded RMB 1 billion within 1 minute and 28 seconds; On 16th August, the “first all-digital visual unmanned store” officially opened at Nanjing Suning headquarters. Named ‘Grab as you go’, this produced an average shopping time saved of 45 seconds.
The Suning Logistics ‘5G Wolong unmanned vehicle, meanwhile, passed road testing and delivered its first order within five minutes. The average delivery time within the national one-hour service circle is 34 minutes.
