Flux clocks up major milestone
UK FinTech venture Flux has announced the delivery of its 500,000th digital receipt.
“We're so proud to work with our amazing partners to help reduce paper receipt wastage in the UK - bring on one million!” the startup said in a tweet yesterday.
“Every year 11.2 billion receipts are printed. Not only does this cost businesses £32 billion every year, but it's leading to huge amounts of environmental waste, including tens of thousands of trees, gallons of water and oil, not to mention the use of toxic chemicals such as BPA and BPS,” comments Matty Cusden-Ross, CEO and Founder, Flux.
“Growing as fast as we are, with more partnerships and more banks supporting Flux's technology than ever, we are able to provide a simpler, more streamlined experience for customers when it comes to shopping, paying, and receiving receipts,” he adds.
“However, much more needs to be done, and fast. To beat the paper receipt, we must all go digital, just like our music collections and shopping carts and our banks. Flux is determined to lead this change - and to build a future that is good for people, for the planet, and for businesses bottomlines too.”
Clients include Costa Coffee, KFC and Just Eat. In July, we reported that the latter’s UK customers were able to get digital itemised receipts directly in their Flux-supported banking app after placing an order. Challenger banks Starling and Monzo were onboard, and Flux’s other bank partner, Barclays Launchpad, is set to follow later this year.
“We’re always looking for ways to harness innovative technology to give our customers more ease, choice and convenience,” said Fernando Fanton, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Just Eat UK. “We’re delighted to be the first in our sector to roll-out Flux digital receipts, ensuring customers can see exactly what they’ve ordered from the 30,000+ restaurants we work with across the UK, directly within their banking apps.”
