FamilyMart all apologies after rat video released
Japanese convenience store chain FamilyMart has apologised after a video of rats scurrying around an outlet in Tokyo's popular Shibuya district went viral.
The video, which has been viewed more than five million times on social media, has not been independently verified. FamilyMart said in a statement: "We deeply apologise for making you feel uncomfortable and uneasy. We take this case seriously."
The store has been closed since Monday while the retailer investigates the cause of the "unsanitary" infestation.
Prevention is better than cure. However, rats don't knock on the door before they intrude. Within the US, these certified exterminators are available for such matters.
