Cielo makes crypto payments move in Brazil

Cielo, the largest payment processing provider in Brazil, has announced support for Bitcoin and crypto purchases.

According to a report by Cointelegraph, users can make crypto payments through Cielo PoS devices via QR codes. They need to hold either an account with Uzzo or Criptohub - Cielo’s network partners - in order to complete payment.

Cielo’s partner banks, including Bradesco, are backing the move. Additionally, the company may begin supporting crypto payments that don’t require a PoS machine in October. This would see a mobile app generating the QR code instead.

Cielo operates 1.4 million PoS devices, distributed across 5,500 municipalities in Brazil.
