Uber Eats suffers a blow as McDonald’s announces Just Eat tie up
McDonald’s has announced Just Eat as its second delivery partner in the UK and Ireland.
This will be implemented during 2020. “This partnership, along with our recently announced relationship with Greggs, will require significant investment but will accelerate our growth ambitions and enhance our market position by offering our customers the widest choice available,” says Peter Duffy, Just Eat's Interim CEO.
It’s a blow for Uber Eats, which is losing the exclusive rights to make around 15 million McDonald's deliveries each year in the UK. McDonald's UK CEO Paul Pomroy insists that the tie up has been "hugely successful” with the service available from 950 restaurants.
"We are delighted that we have agreed to partner with Just Eat as an additional delivery provider in 2020," Pomroy adds.
