John McAfee's wife issues statement as he is arrested in Spain over tax evasion
Tech magnate and crypto advocate John McAfee has been arrested in Spain and faces extradition to the US on charges of tax evasion.
Prosecutors say he failed to file tax returns for four years, despite earning millions from consulting work, speaking engagements, cryptocurrencies and selling the rights to his life story for a documentary.
None of the income is connected with the software firm which bears his name. If convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison. Further details here.
McAfee has not publicly commented on the charges. However, within the last hour, his wife, Janice, has posted a statement on Twitter in which she calls for people to support him “in his battle against injustice”.
