Six big retail technology funding rounds

RTIH rounds up the retail technology ventures who have been making waves with major investments.

1. Sendcloud

E-commerce shipping platform venture, Sendcloud, has closed a €12.6 million Series B round. 

This was led by AXA Venture Partners with participation from existing investors BOM Brabant Ventures, Bonsai Partners and accompanied by a loan from Rabobank. 

2. FETCH

Strive Capital has made an undisclosed investment into mobile food and drink ordering app venture FETCH.

As well as enabling social distancing for staff and customers, the company’s proprietary customer location technology allows venues to locate customers to within 10cm accuracy to where they are on the premises.

FETCH is currently deployed into eateries in both the UK and Germany.

3. Farmstead

US online grocer Farmstead has announced a $7.9 million Series A round of funding as it looks to accelerate its national expansion and recruiting. 

This brings its total funding to date to $14.5 million.

4. SellerX

German startup SellerX has closed a seed round of $118 million, led by Cherry Ventures, Felix Capital and Silicon Valley-based TriplePoint Capital, with participation from Village Global.

Angels with e-commerce backgrounds also joined, including Zalando co-founder David Schneider and Shutterfly CEO and former Amazon UK CEO Chris North.

5. Alphagreen

Alphagreen, a London-based marketplace for CBD and alternative healthcare products, has secured £1.1 million of seed funding to help finance the roll-out of new products and services alongside expansion into the US. 

6. Forter

E-commerce fraud prevention venture, Forter, has raised $125 million in Series E funding, giving it a valuation of over $1.3 billion.

This was led by Bessemer Venture Partners, Felix Capital and Itai Tsiddon, with participation from Sequoia Capital, NewView Capital, Scale Venture Partners, March Capital Partners and Commerce Ventures.

Across five rounds, Forter has now pulled in $225 million.
