Phil Tenney departs Asda for Group Chief IT Officer role at Travis Perkins
Travis Perkins has hired Phil Tenney as Group Chief IT Officer.
Tenney joins from Asda, where he spent nearly eight years, first as CIO before becoming Chief Digital and Technology Officer.
He is being replaced in the CDTO role by former Morrisons Chief Technology Officer Anna Barsby, following Asda’s sale by Walmart to the Issa brothers.
She comes onboard as part of its partnership with Tessiant, the management consultancy she co-founded and through which she recently worked on a digital transformation project at Fortnum & Mason.

Her CV also includes stints as CIO at Halfords, Director of IT Projects and Programmes at TUI Travel and Head of Infrastructure and Service Delivery at Whitbread.
“I bring grocery and retail experience, but I am a people and change leader who loves the value that technology can drive in business,” she says.
“This is an exciting opportunity to really engage the skills and talent of Asda. It is a unique chance, and you rarely get to do that at this scale.”
