Pornhub urges Americans to stay home during coronavirus crisis

Adult entertainment platform Pornhub has called on Americans to stay inside as the coronavirus outbreak intensifies.

White House medical adviser Dr Anthony Fauci has warned that the virus could kill up to 200,000 Americans. It was "entirely conceivable" that millions of Americans could eventually be infected, he said.

The US now has more than 140,000 confirmed cases. As of Sunday evening, 2,493 deaths had been recorded in the country, according to figures collated by Johns Hopkins University.  The US last week became the country with the most reported cases, ahead of Italy and China.

Pornhub tweeted out an image in which half the US population says ‘catch me outside, how bow dat?’ in response to the government’s instruction to stay indoors. “Don't be that guy #StayHomehub,” the company said.

Free Premium initiative goes global

Pornhub recently extended its free Premium service offering worldwide in the face of the coronavirus crisis and various countries being locked down.

“Stay home and help flatten the curve! Since COVID-19 continues to impact us all, Pornhub has decided to extend Free Pornhub Premium worldwide until April 23rd. So enjoy, stay home, and stay safe,” the company tweeted.

The move has, somewhat unsurprisingly, gone down well with large numbers of people. “God bless you guys for the free Premium. It's kept me occupied alongside Netflix and Disney+. Stay At Home and Flatten The Curve,” one user said on social media.
