Coinbase Commerce scores 8,000 merchants and $200m in transactions

Coinbase Commerce, a platform that supports cryptocurrency payments for online merchants, has racked up $200 million in transactions.

The venture, which launched two years ago and is part of the largest crypto exchange in the US, also now has over 8,000 merchants onboard.

John Zettler, Product Lead at Coinbase Commerce, said Bitcoin was by far the preferred payment method among the cryptocurrencies offered on the platform. “Merchant customers often tell us it's the crypto they're most familiar with and the one they trust the most,” he commented.

He added that stablecoins, particularly his company’s own dollar pegged USDC, offer regular sellers a low-friction avenue to add cryptocurrency payments to their e-commerce business.
