Former Flybe pilot Aaron Leventhal helps Tesco delivery effort

A former Flybe pilot has taken on the role of Tesco HGV driver during the coronavirus outbreak.

Aaron Leventhal lost his job five weeks ago after Flybe collapsed into administration.

“It took over 10 years to save up to achieve this dream and I am devastated to say the least. I am looking forward to the next chapter whenever aviation kick starts again,” he said in a LinkedIn post.

“But in the meantime I’ve put myself out to do my share in helping our nation by driving a 44 tonne HGV delivering the essentials to keep those Tesco shelves stocked up for our British public.”

LinkedIn users were quick to praise Leventhal.

“I cleaned hospital toilets while waiting for my chance to fly mate, it’ll come back and you’ll get back on the saddle - in the meantime good on ya for adapting to the circumstances and doing something very crucial during this pandemic - I suspect that an HGV is more challenging than an Embraer when reversing round corners!” said one.

Another commented: “Aaron what a noble thing to do, so sorry your dream career has has had a temporary pause. I am sure you will be back flying as soon as possible. Best of luck!”

From BA to Tesco

Earlier this month, we reported that British Airways pilot, Peter Login, was taking on the role of Tesco delivery driver during the coronavirus lockdown.

Login is among 30,000 BA staff who are out of work after the airline grounded most of its fleet last month due to Covid-19. Further details here.
