Luke Weston posts L'Oréal Luxe progress report amid coronavirus crisis
Last week, we reported that Luke Weston had taken on the role of Chief Digital Officer at L'Oréal Luxe.
He joined from hair care brand Function of Beauty where he served as Chief Revenue Officer. L'Oréal’s Luxe portfolio includes Lancôme, Kiehl's, YSL, Giorgio Armani, IT Cosmetics and Urban Decay.
Weston has now posted on LinkedIn about his first week in the new job. “It was obviously a very unusual introduction: everyone is working remotely, and they’re trying to work out how to react to the unprecedented changes wrought by Covid-19,” he said.

There were also presentations with novel insights pulled together to describe massive changes in consumer behaviour. As well as donations from the company and individuals to a variety of Covid-19 causes to help those in particularly challenging circumstances.
“Company leadership protecting 100% of employees from redundancies. And, perhaps most importantly, lots of smiles and laughter despite the circumstances,” Weston commented.
“We can’t change the situation we’re in, but we can control how we react to it. Calm acceptance of the business changes. Novel ideation for how to support the business and employees. Supportive empathy for colleagues dealing with all sorts of new life challenges. Working together as a company and a society is the only way we will win. And the signs look good! Glass half full,” he concluded.
