Dunelm starts offering contact free furniture delivery

Dunelm online customers can now order furniture for the house and garden, with contact free delivery available.

The retailer is following in the footsteps of Next by re-opening its online business after shutting down last month due to the coronavirus.

“After taking the time to work out a safe solution, we have re-introduced our two-person delivery service, for furniture and larger items,” it says in an online statement.

“For the safety of you and our colleagues these deliveries are completely contact free, so we will place your order on your doorstep and confirm delivery verbally instead of taking a signature.”

Nick Wilkinson, Dunelm’s CEO, who has taken a 90% pay cut during these challenging times, comments: “We remain focused on doing the right thing for our colleagues, customers and the communities where we operate, and I am pleased that we have safely re-opened our online operations.”

“I am immensely grateful for the dedication and commitment of our colleagues and supplier partners who have demonstrated great agility and determination in a dynamic and unprecedented situation.”

“Whilst many uncertainties remain, we have ensured that Dunelm and its many stakeholders will be well-supported through this difficult period and are confident that we will emerge from this crisis as a stronger business ready to return to sustainable and profitable growth.”

Dunelm’s stores remain closed, with store staff mostly furloughed under the government’s job retention scheme, while telephone-based staff are working from home.
