Ikea makes artificial intelligence play with Geomagical Labs deal
Ikea, by way of Ingka Group (set up by the Swedish retailer’s founder, and the primary franchisor of Ikea and owner of Ikea.com), has acquired AI imaging startup Geomagical Labs.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The aim is to give customers more options when trying out furniture in a virtual version of their homes.

Ingka Group, which operates in 30 markets around the world, will integrate the technology into its website and an app it began rolling out in 2019.
This builds on an augmented reality app launched by Ikea in 2017, which lets customers try out furniture in their home setting.
