A.S. Watson tackles coronavirus with Moneyback initiative

A.S. Watson is opening up its Moneyback loyalty programme to retailers across Hong Kong as it looks to stimulate consumer spending during the coronavirus outbreak.

The move will enable them to promote their business on the platform for free by uploading offers. The aim is to encourage cross-retailer shopping in all 18 Hong Kong districts.

Malina Ngai, Group COO at A.S. Watson Group and CEO at A.S. Watson (Asia & Europe), comments: “The pandemic has hit every community hard in many aspects, and it is extremely challenging for retailers.”

“A.S. Watson has been deeply rooted in Hong Kong for 180 years, we have been through many crises of different nature with the community. We know difficult days will pass, hence should proactively plan ahead,” he continues.

“When we think of how we can play a part in helping the industry, our Moneyback loyalty programme serves as a perfect platform. With its 3.7 million active member base, and a mobile app with 1.5 million downloads, we already have over 130 offline and online retail partners, covering over 1,000 retail outlets where our members can enjoy exclusive benefits.”

A.S. Watson Group is donating 1.8 million own brand face masks. Participating merchants can provide in-store offers and customers will get the face masks as shopping rewards.

The Cross-retailer eStamp Reward Programme will be rolled out when the epidemic situation in Hong Kong improves and the government’s control measures ease.
