Six stand out retail technology funding rounds

RTIH rounds up the retail technology ventures who have been making waves with major investments.

1. Scurri

Irish e-commerce venture Scurri has announced a €1.5 million investment round. 

This involved existing investors and associates including Act Venture Capital, Episode 1 and Pa Nolan and brings the company’s total funding to €8.5 million.

2. Pudu Robotics

Chinese startup Pudu Robotics has wrapped a $15 million Series B round, with Beijing food services group, Meituan as the sole investor. 

3. Wagestream

Wagestream, which gives workers early access to their earned pay when they need it, has raised £20 million as part of a Series B funding round.

4. OnBuy

UK-based online marketplace OnBuy has closed a £5 million Series A funding round.

This involved VC firm Fuel Ventures and also Nathalie Gaveau, the co-founder of Priceminister, a French marketplace that was acquired by Rakuten. 

5. NumberEight

Nauta Capital has launched its fifth fund, Nauta Tech Invest V, with an initial closing of €120 million. 

Focusing on European B2B companies, this is expected to surpass the VC’s 2016 fund, which topped out at €155 million.

The first company to be backed from Nauta Tech Invest V is NumberEight which has raised a $2.3 million seed round. The UK-based contextual intelligence platform for mobile devices predicts consumer context to “enable the delivery of the right content at the right time while preserving user privacy by not sending or storing sensor data beyond their device”. 

6. Ace & Tate

Dutch eyewear brand, Ace & Tate, has raised €14.25 million in a round led by existing investor Rinkelberg Capital. This brings the seven-year-old company's total funding to €57.5 million.
