RTIH retail technology awards: Bricks and Mortar Innovation shortlist announced

Situ Live, Asda and Sports Direct are among the nominees in the Bricks and Mortar category at the 2021 RTIH Innovation Awards.

This award, sponsored by CADS, will go to a retailer enabling physical spaces to thrive via innovative technology, even as online shopping continues to grow.

We’re looking for examples of reducing friction in the customer journey, offering improved experiences, and blurring the lines between channels.

2021 shortlist as follows:

Asda

Over the past year, the Asda Retail Innovation team have focused on creating a connected customer experience and have tested a number of initiatives at the Asda Stevenage concept store.

Choice Market/AiFi

In 2021, Choice Market opened a Choice Bannock store. The new 5,000-square foot market features the brand’s Choice: NOW experience, which brings in-store and online shopping together.

With Choice: Now, people can place orders online for shipping/in-store pickup. They can also shop in a checkout-free manner as the store is retrofitted with AiFi's camera only autonomous store solutions.

Lifvs/Pricer

Lifvs is Europe’s largest unmanned 24-hour grocery store chain. Launched in 2019, its staffless store estate now spans 27 outlets.

LIFVS has deployed ESLs from Pricer’s Plaza platform, a cloud-based SaaS solution, to power sophisticated in-store digital capabilities.

Situ Live

Situ Live, a new immersive consumer experience which reimagines the traditional commercial retail model, opened its doors this autumn, at Westfield London.

Sports Direct/inurface media

Working with Sports Direct on its new Oxford Street, London store, inurface media were tasked with creating an innovative, immersive and interactive retail experience.

TeeGschwendner/Snabble

The focus when implementing Snabble Scan-&-Go at TeeGschwendner was to enable employees to provide more comprehensive customer service and to make shopping even more convenient for customers.

We will now ask our judging panel to cast their votes and provide their feedback. The winner will be revealed on 8th December at a roundtable discussion/networking event in central London.
