Tesco seeks UI designer as it builds new online groceries product

Tesco Online Groceries is looking for a senior user interface designer to head up “a new and inspirational e-commerce product”.

“Craft amazing UI to solve real problems for millions of customers a week,” Robert Graham, Design Lead for Tesco Online Groceries, says in a LinkedIn post. “Solid experience working with Figma and design systems is a must.”

Tesco did not respond to our request for further information on the new product.

Record growth

In January, Tesco said it delivered over seven million online grocery orders, containing more than 400 million individual items, over the Christmas period.

It made the announcement whilst reporting its 3Q and Christmas 2020/21 results.

“We're now supporting 786,000 vulnerable customers with priority access to online slots and, as coronavirus lockdown measures continue, we’ll keep doing everything we can to ensure everyone can safely get the food and essentials they need,” Chief Executive Ken Murphy said.

UK sales grew across all formats, channels and categories. Online sales growth clocked in at over +80%, which equates to nearly £1 billion extra sales over the 19-week period.

Order numbers after Christmas continued to grow, with Tesco stating that it exceeded its all time records for both home deliveries and Click and Collect last week.

The retailer attracted nearly 100,000 new Delivery Saver subscribers, taking the total to over 680,000.

Large store sales also grew strongly as customers favoured larger, less frequent shopping trips during the coronavirus outbreak.
