Currys PC World flags importance of tech amid Covid outbreak
Currys PC World has revealed the most popular tech products purchased by Brits during the coronavirus pandemic.
The retailer says that records were broken in gaming as the clash of the consoles played out, with PS5 selling out in 10 minutes and receiving 90, 000 more pre-registration sign-ups than Xbox.
Entertainment tech saw huge growth, with sales of the Google Chromecast TV 4K surging by over 900% in April 2020.

Brits turned to tech to save money and reduce energy consumption with smart thermostats – up 400% YoY.
In computing, meanwhile, sales of computer mice increased over 1,000% YoY, while internet security software, webcams and printer ink were also up, 979%, 696% and 506% respectively YoY.
