Migros Ticaret launches Taro robot product picking assistant
Turkish retailer Migros Ticaret has worked with Asis Automation to develop a robot product picking assistant called Taro.
The aim is to accelerate the picking of online and curbside grocery orders.
Taro can also be used to speed up the replenishment of shelves as well as in dark stores, warehouses and large fulfilment centres.
Migros Ticaret CEO Özgür Tort says: “Our customers now enjoy the convenience and comfort of ordering every product from their home with a single click. We know that speed is as important as quality in both offline and online shopping.”
“We accelerated our speed with Taro, which we have put into use in our warehouses, and our product collection speed in online orders has increased five times.”
“Taro, which will make a significant contribution to our productivity by eliminating all errors, will be the most important assistant for our employees. We will be preparing 50% of Migros Sanal Market orders with it until the end of the year.”
The way of the future
“This will soon be your next grocery cart,” Brittain Ladd, a supply chain consultant and former Amazon exec, says in a LinkedIn post.
“Although not officially announced, I believe Taro will eventually come in a model with a bigger basket for use as a motorised grocery cart that shoppers can use standing up or sitting down,” he adds.
