Marxent bags new e-commerce patent for Design from Photo tech

3D commerce venture, Marxent, has announced the issuance of a notice of allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark office for its Pinterest inspired Design from Photo technology.

This will be Marxent’s third patent.

The IP includes the ability to tap on a buyable product in an inspirational photo and add it to a 3D scene with other 3D products as a part of the customer buying journey for both e-commerce and in-store purchases.

It also covers whole-room add-to-cart from a 3D scene.

The Marxent 3D Room Planner with Design from Photo is used by such furniture retailers and kitchen cabinet manufacturers as Lowe’s Home Improvement, Macy’s, La-Z-Boy, John Lewis & Partners, American Furniture Warehouse, and American Woodmark.

Beck Besecker, CEO and Co-Founder, Marxent., told RTIH: “The ability to design from a photo for categories like kitchen, bath, and furniture isn’t only about bridging from inspiration to design.”

“We’ve learned that a major part of the value is that it drastically reduces the requirement for a customer to have to learn the complexities of something like a kitchen catalogue.”

“Imagine you’re a new homeowner and you’ve never remodelled a kitchen before. There are so many options and design rules, most have no other option but to get professional help. Design From Photo is just a much better mousetrap and hunting through a catalogue. Just click, place, done.”

“And then, when you take those same images and make them available on say Pinterest, shoppers can literally design from the photo that inspired them,” he concludes.
