Made.com inks UK warehousing facility expansion deal
Online furniture retailer Made.com has announced the development of an additional 350,000 square foot warehouse at DP World’s London Gateway Logistics Park in Tilbury.
The UK-based firm’s current furniture warehouse at the Tilbury site measures 225,000 square feet, handles approximately 750,000 units per year and has an average SKU range of 2,300.
The new facility will be delivered in two phases, with the first one completed this summer, and the second in April 2022.
Nicola Thompson, Chief Operating Officer at Made, which was founded in 2010, says: “We are thrilled to expand our warehousing operations at London Gateway as we respond to continued growth in customer demand for our exclusive designs.”
“Combined with our innovative ‘just in time’ supply chain model, this expansion of our warehousing facility in Tilbury is an exciting step towards achieving our long-term strategy to grow the business sustainably, as we continue to invest in operational efficiency and become the design destination for digital natives.”
Earlier this year, Sky News reported that the pureplay was exploring plans for a stock market flotation that would value it at more than £500 million. Made, which was founded in 2010, declined to comment.
