Crypto enthusiast John McAfee tweets on life in Spanish jail

Tech magnate and crypto advocate John McAfee is currently incarcerated in Spain, pending extradition to the United States.

He was arrested in the country during October of last year.

And in March, the US Department of Justice said he had been indicted on fraud and money laundering conspiracy charges.

McAfee and his bodyguard, Jimmy Gale Watson Jr, are accused of exploiting the former’s Twitter following to artificially inflate prices of altcoins through a pump and dump scheme.

They also allegedly concealed payments McAfee received from startups to promote initial coin offerings.

McAfee, who insists the charges are overblown, was a prolific tweeter before his arrest, boasting over one million followers.

And the 76 year old has continued to tweet from behind bars, flagging up that he has been in prison, without bail, for seven months.

McAfee has also taken the opportunity to hit out at the US government and the media.

His wife Janice, meanwhile, has revealed his shock at the price of Dogecoin, which was created in 2013 as a joke, poking fun at the rise of established digital assets such as Bitcoin.

STOP PRESS: Just as RTIH was about to publish this article, McAfee popped up on Twitter again, this time weighing in on the question that’s on everyone’s mind at the moment.
