Five retail technology funding rounds you need to know about
RTIH rounds up the retail systems ventures who have recently bagged significant investments, including Getir, Grabango, Contentstack and 99minutos.
1. Getir
Getir, a Turkish rapid grocery delivery startup, has concluded a Series D funding round, raising over $550 million and taking the company's valuation to over $7.5 billion.
Investors included Tiger Global and Sequoia Capital, Silver Lake, DisruptAD, and Mubadala Investment Company.
2. Grabango
Checkout-free technology startup Grabango has closed a $39 million Series B round.
Led by Commerce Ventures with participation from Founders Fund, Unilever Ventures, Honeywell Ventures, and WIND Ventures, this brings Grabango’s total capital raised to $71 million.
With the fresh funds, it will expand into new stores and boost its development team.
3. 99minutos
99minutos, a last mile delivery platform based in Latin America, has announced a $40 million fundraising round led by Prosus Ventures and Kaszek.
The venture, which was founded in 2014, says that the cash will help to strengthen its position in current markets (including Mexico, Chile and Peru) and to continue its expansion throughout Latin America.
4. Superb
Superb, a Denmark-based guest experience management platform for restaurants, has raised €12 million in a Series A funding round led by Kinnevik.
Scandinavian restaurants using Superb include Maaemo, Re-naa, Agrikultur, Iluka, Credo, Ichi, Sushi Anaba, Barr, and Brace.
The venture is planning to establish itself within new markets, including Germany by the end of this year and the UK in early 2022.
5. Contentstack
Content experience platform venture Contentstack has bagged $57.5 million in Series B financing.
This was led by Insight Partners, who also headed up the company’s Series A round.
It brings Contentstack’s total amount raised to $90 million.
The venture plans to use the new capital to fuel international growth, expand its ecosystem of channel and technology partners and accelerate new technology innovation that has been incubating in its labs.
