Tesco Whoosh grocery delivery service expands to London and Bristol
Tesco has expanded its Whoosh one-hour delivery service to London and Bristol.
The grocery giant launched a pilot last month from a single store in Wolverhampton.
It is now adding a further 11 Express locations in the aforementioned cities. Chief Executive Ken Murphy said the trial had provided Tesco with “some very interesting data”.
Customers are able to order via the retailer’s app or Tesco.com, with products delivered by partner Stuart within 60 minutes by bike, moped or car, for a £5 delivery fee.
There is a minimum basket value of £15. However, Tesco can deliver shopping that is less than this, although it will charge an additional £2 minimum basket charge on top of the aforementioned £5 fee.
The Whoosh product selection will differ to Tesco’s standard grocery home shopping range and the full range available in the store branch. Availability hours may vary and are subject to change.
Chris Poad, Online Managing Director at Tesco, commented last month: “Customers are telling us that they would welcome the addition of a 60-minute delivery to their door option as part of our online grocery service.”
“We’ll use the pilot to understand how Whoosh could work best for both our customers and our colleagues.”
Sainsbury’s et al
Rival Sainsbury’s operates its own Chop Chop rapid delivery offering, as well as tie ups with Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
Whilst Waitrose, Morrisons, Aldi and the Co-op also use the likes of Deliveroo and Uber Eats to reach customers.
