Deliverect preps International Food Delivery Day event

Deliverect, a startup that connects the likes of Uber Eats, Deliveroo, Doordash, and Just Eat Takeaway.com to restaurants’ PoS systems, is launching the first ever International Food Delivery Day on 8th September.

The aim is to celebrate the work done by restaurateurs, wait staff, kitchen chefs, delivery drivers, particularly through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Deliverect will be hosting events in major cities around the world, featuring the likes of giveaways, special menu items, and music.

Customers are being urged to share pictures of their favourite delivery foods on their social channels and tag their favourite restaurants, and also give a thank you to their delivery driver, server or other restaurant staff.

Restaurants, meanwhile, can play their part by offering special discounts on delivery platforms.

“When Deliverect was founded in 2018, I knew food delivery would be a key part of restaurants’ operations, and success,” says Zhong Xu, Co-founder and CEO, Deliverect.

“As a result of the pandemic, the food delivery industry went into hypergrowth. With online food delivery services expected to reach $192.16 billion in 2025, it is safe to say that food delivery is here to stay.”

Funding round

In April, Deliverect raised $65 million in a Series C funding round.

This involved DST Global Partners and Redpoint Ventures, as well as existing investors OMERS Ventures, Newion and Smartfin. Deliverect’s founders also participated in the round.

The Series C brought total fundraising to more than $90 million.

Founded in 2018, Deliverect is using the new capital to continue scaling and providing customers with technology to easily manage digital orders, including delivery, take-out and in-house dining apps.

At the time of the funding round, the venture had processed more than 30 million orders, and was averaging more than one million orders processed per week, an increase of nearly 750% from April 2020.
