Sessions raids BrewDog for Commercial Director appointment

Sessions, a startup which provides UK foodie entrepreneurs with a platform to sell their products, has appointed Jack Anderson as Commercial Director.

He joins from UK-based brewery and pub chain BrewDog where he served as Global Retail Growth Director and was responsible for scaling the business in the UK and internationally through securing sites for bars and hotels as well as growing the licensing proposition with multiple large deals.

His career has also seen him spend time as Head of Development at Yum!Brands, overseeing the opening of over 80 sites per year.

Founded in 2020 by Dan Warne (former MD Deliveroo), Sessions works with founders to accelerate the growth of their brands through its network of food halls and host kitchens.

Anderson will be leading the roll-out of Sessions’ model across the UK. Over the next 12 months, the venture is aiming to open 500 host kitchens.

Funding round

Sessions recently raised $10 million in a Series A round.

It secured the cash from a syndicate of investors led by Guinness Asset Management.

Warne commented: “We are proud to take investment from such a forward thinking, collaborative fund as Guinness. Our purpose is to be a voice for the independents, championing change and empowerment, and it’s great to see our new partners entirely bought into that mission.”

Ashley Abrahams of Guinness said: “We are very excited by this investment and Session’s mission, which is made even more compelling by the quality of the team behind it.”

“True disruptors in the hospitality sector, the hybrid physical and digital model of Sessions is of intense interest to us and we’re looking forward to watching our partnership grow.”
