SumUp says it’s on track to become largest PoS solution provider in Europe

SumUp has announced the launch of PoS Lite in the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Spain, alongside a new and improved Point of Sale system PoS Pro.

With PoS Lite the company is creating an entry level PoS product that will serve the smallest businesses. With the revamped PoS Pro, it is expanding the product suite for businesses of all sizes.

By merchant count, SumUp says that it is on course to become the leading PoS solution in Europe by the end of the year, and these new products will accelerate that pace.

PoS Lite is an out of the box solution that comes with free pre-installed SumUp PoS software, and no subscription charges. It is built entirely in-house by SumUp, based on merchant feedback.

PoS Pro now enables merchants to process multiple orders concurrently.

SumUp Co-founder Marc-Alexander Christ comments: “We have consistently delivered cutting-edge technology, which supports and serves the global small and nano business community.”

“By expanding our PoS solutions, SumUp continues to provide merchants with the tools they need to make a success of their business. Innovation is at our core, and SumUp is very proud to support over four million merchants around the world.”

The launch and updates follow the unveiling of SumUp Magic Pay in the summer.

Now, at the end of a meal, people can receive a copy of the bill, by scanning a QR code on the table.

From there, a bill can be split, a tip added, and payment conducted (Apple or Google Pay both an option). Receipts can be sent via email as well. No app, account or any admin needed.

Earlier this year, meanwhile, London-based SumUp announced a €590 million raise at a €8 billion valuation.

This was led by Bain Capital Tech Opportunities, with participation from funds managed by BlackRock, btov Partners, Centerbridge, Crestline, Fin Capital, and Sentinel Dome Partners, among others.

Darren Abrahamson, a Managing Director at Bain Capital Tech Opportunities, said at the time: “SumUp has continually evolved to empower a growing and diverse field of small businesses with payment solutions and tools to efficiently connect with their everyday consumers.”

“SumUp’s leadership team have led the company to sustained and accelerated growth through expansion to more than 30 countries where they have had a direct and positive impact on the small business ecosystem.”

“We’re proud to contribute our deep FinTech and payments experience to aid SumUp’s remarkable ability to push the boundaries and lead an incredibly competitive industry.”
