Dutch supermarket chain Plus places ESLs order with Pricer

Pricer has landed an order of approximately 55 million SEK from the Dutch co-operative supermarket chain Plus to equip 80 stores previously under the Coop banner with electronic shelf labels (ESLs).

Roll-out is set to start in April and to be finalised before the end of the year.

Plus recently announced a merger with Coop in the Netherlands.

The new company will operate under the name Plus. In total Coop brings some 300 stores into the merged venture, which will have approximately 550 locations.

Two years ago, Plus made the decision to roll-out Pricer’s ESL platform to all of its stores.

The solution is based on Pricer’s cloud-based platform, Pricer Plaza, and SmartTag Power labels.

Plus is now installing the platform in 80 of the aforementioned Coop stores.

It says that the ability to add real-time flash functionality to shelves offers significant advantages.

It is using the technology to support several in-store processes, such as picking of online orders, optimising processes for inventory and stock management, efficient price management and minimising food waste.

“We value Pricer’s ability to offer both innovation as well as reliability and durability,” says Duncan Hoy, CEO at Plus.

“Our innovative solutions for in-store digitalisation, based on our hardware, software and cloud-based services, has given Plus a real edge in the market,” says Helena Holmgren, CEO at Pricer.

“This renewed confidence from Plus underscores the reason why our fast, scalable and future-proof solution is chosen by leading retailers to optimise store operations and take customer experience to the next level.”

The order value of approximately 55 million SEK excludes the cost of Pricer Plaza, installation and future technical support, and will be included in Pricer’s order intake for the first quarter of 2022.
