Go Grocer announces express pick up option, preps US expansion

Chicago-based Go Grocer has launched an express pick up option, with orders available in as little as five minutes

The firm currently operates 15 physical locations in Chicago, which fits together with its fast delivery business.

Its latest small format store will open soon in the city’s Logan Square neighbourhood and will serve as a fulfilment location for local delivery.

The company also recently launched its own app. And it is working on plans to expand nationwide, in highly populated locations in the Midwest and likely the East Coast.

Farmstead

Online grocer Farmstead’s service recently launched in Chicago, with delivery in as little as one hour.

Farmstead offers a mix of fresh produce, national brands such as Kraft, and local Chicago brands such as Oberweis Dairy, Intelligentsia Coffee, Gino’s East Pizza, Vienna Beef and Hometown Bagel Chips.

The company’s new 30,000 square foot warehouse is located in Franklin Park.

“We are different from any other grocery delivery option in Chicago,” said Pradeep Elankumaran, Co-founder and CEO at Farmstead.

“With Farmstead, customers get the best quality, local produce; great local Chicago brands and national brand staples all in one place, with no markups or fees. And we can deliver quickly in a broad radius, not just downtown. We’re excited to show Chicago that there’s a better way to get groceries online.”

Chicago is Farmstead’s fifth market. Its service originated in the San Francisco Bay area, and it also serves Miami, Fla. and Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham, NC.

Customers can choose a same-day delivery slot (a two to four hour guaranteed delivery window) for one-off, every day ordering, or sign up for a free once a week delivery.

Farmstead leverages proprietary AI technology and a dark store model. The venture says that, as a result of this, it offers prices comparable to or lower than most supermarkets, but with free delivery to doorstep.

It plans to expand nationwide to a primarily suburban, mid-market audience.
